Dr. Ryan Knutson serves as the Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer at Montana State University (MSU). As CIO, he oversees IT security, telecommunications, local area and wide area networking, user services, infrastructure, and research computing.
Ryan began his career as a server administrator for South Dakota State University, then he became web and systems manager for Southwest Minnesota State University. He returned to South Dakota State University in 2010 as the Manager of Information Security, which was followed closely by an appointment as Assistant Vice President. Ryan then worked as Chief Information Officer for the Sioux Falls School District before coming to Montana State University.
Ryan holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics, a master’s degree in Information Systems, and a doctorate in Adult and Higher Education.
