John Stevenson is the Interim Co-Director of Information Technology and continues to also manage the Infrastructure and Network Services Teams at Southern Oregon University.
He began his career in computing with the US Air Force as a Digital Data Processing Repairman and then worked for General Electric and Honeywell as a Computer Field Engineer. He experienced the change over from vacuum tube, to solid-state, to integrated circuit computing.
Taking a long break, John and his wife became successful night-club entertainers, songwriters, and traveling musicians. They performed in casinos, resorts, cruise ships, state fairs, and concerts throughout the U.S.
John returned to computing in 2000 as co-founder of a company that produced and sold portable streaming media encoding equipment. He also taught COMPTIA, Microsoft and Cisco certification classes for aspiring computer technicians at Northwestern Technical College in Sacramento. Joining Southern Oregon University as a trainer and technician in 2004, John quickly moved into management, serving as the Help Desk Supervisor, and then the Client Services Manager, before taking on his current duties.
