Marty Ringle

Marty Ringle is President of the NorthWest Academic Computing Consortium. From 1989 to 2020, he served as Chief Information Officer of Reed College. Marty has chaired a number of higher education boards such as EDUCAUSE, the Consortium of Liberal Arts Colleges (CLAC), and REN-ISAC and has served on many advisory groups such as those for Apple, Amazon, Microsoft, NeXT, InCommon, the Internet2 Network Council, and others. Marty received the EDUCAUSE Leadership Award in 2003 and was co-leader of the EDUCAUSE CIO Constituent Group from 2016 through 2019.  As a peer consultant, Marty has assisted more than 150 universities, foundations, corporations, and government agencies.

Marty has a Ph.D. in philosophy from Binghamton University, jointly sponsored by the T.J. Watson School of Engineering. He was a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Chicago and later led the development of the nation’s first bachelor’s degree program in cognitive science while serving as chair of Vassar College’s computer science department.
