Marty Ringle

Marty Ringle is President of the NorthWest Academic Computing Consortium and Emeritus Chief Information Officer of Reed College (1989-2020). During the past thirty-five years, Marty has consulted on technology-related issues for more than two hundred colleges, universities, corporations, foundations, and government agencies. Marty has chaired a number of boards including EDUCAUSE, the Consortium of Liberal Arts Colleges (CLAC), and REN-ISAC and has served on advisory groups for Apple, SCT, Addison-Wesley, the Fielding Graduate Institute, NITLE, and many other organizations. He was a member of the CyberSecurity committee of the National Security Higher Education Advisory Board and was co-leader of the EDCAUSE CIO Constituent Group from 2016 through 2019. 

Marty has a Ph.D. in philosophy from Binghamton University, jointly sponsored by the T.J. Watson School of Engineering, and has held faculty positions in philosophy and computer science. He led the development of the first bachelor’s program in cognitive science while serving as chair of Vassar College’s computer science department.
