Hotel


The conference will take place at the 5th Ave Suites, in Portland, Oregon. Attendees (except for Board members and speakers) must make reservations with the hotel and confirm with a credit card by May 31, 2005. Please mention "NWACC - Northwest Academic Computing Consortium group" when reserving your room to receive group rates.

Hotel reservations for NWACC Board members and speakers will be made by — and billed directly to — NWACC. Board members and speakers will need to provide a credit card at check-in to guarantee payment for any incidental charges (phone, in-room bar, etc).

Directions

By Car

Driving directions to the hotel are available from the 5th Avenue Suites webpage (http://www.5thavenuesuites.com/fasmapa/index.html). Valet parking is available for overnight guests at the hotel for $23. Alternately, parking is available at the SmartPark garage at SW 3rd and Alder for $9 a day.

By TriMet

Public transporation in Portland, known as TriMet, is quite dependable. To get to the 5th Avenue Suites Hotel from the Portland Airport using TriMet, first board the MAX (light-rail train) at the Airport MAX Red Line to Beaverton station. Get off at the Mall/SW 5th Ave MAX Station in downtown Portland. Walk 0.1 mile north to SW 5th Ave and SW Washington St.

Tickets can be purchased at automated ticket machines at all MAX stations. The fare is $1.70, and the trip will take about 40 minutes. One ticket can be used on any MAX or bus until the time marked on the ticket, and the downtown area is always free. The MAX leaves the airport every 15 minutes from 5:00 a.m. to 11:35 p.m.

By Towncar or Taxi

Aloha Executive Town Car: Make reservations with Irina at 503-544-5574 for a personal pick-up at the airport. The cost will be around $40.

Taxi: There are five companies that serve the airport 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The cost is appoximately $25-$30 to downtown one way, and takes between 20-40 minutes depending on traffic.

Travel Reimbursements


NWACC will provide reimbursement to all NWACC Board members for travel expenses to and from the meeting as well as for two nights hotel lodging and taxes. Attendees who are not NWACC Board members will be responsible for their own lodging and travel costs.
